The two-week World Baijiu Day countdown is underway and venues in 17 cities are slated to have events, with more to come. Some highlights from the past few days:

  • Singapore bar L’Aiglon (see photo above) will have baijiu-inspired cocktails on that day. More on this soon. By the way, if any baijiu suppliers in Singapore want to get involved, please let me know (spirit (at) worldbaijiuday.com).
  • Rooftop bar Shen on The Bund in Shanghai will feature a pair of bajiu cocktails plus food pairings. More details here.
  • Pop-Up Beijing will have a pop-up baijiu bar on August 8 that includes Taizi, a New Zealand baijiu, in the lineup. Thanks to Glenn Schuitman and the efforts of New Zealand Trade & Enterprise for securing the supply.
  • And last but certainly not least, we now have a World Baijiu Day poster–click here for the pdf–thanks to Ian Burns and Pierre-Louis Marchal at RedStar Works.

This has been my busiest work week this year but things will calm down next week, so expect lots more posts, including a write-up of the first WSET baijiu master class, held in London last week.
